A high proportion of the students that study A Level Economics at St Catherine’s go on to study Economics at top universities, such as Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Durham and the LSE. To succeed at A Level Economics it is not necessary to study Mathematics in the Sixth Form. However, if you are thinking about studying Economics at degree level it is advisable to study A Level Mathematics. At undergraduate level Economics students are expected to complete compulsory papers in Econometrics, which is quite mathematical, and statistics as part of their year one programme. In years two and three students have greater flexibility, for example, most universities offer modules in Industrial Economics, Development Economics, Health Economics, Transport Economics and Labour Markets.
