What we do
The Parent Teacher Association of St Catherine’s Senior School, the PTA, is composed of parents and teachers who volunteer their time and energy to provide the social link between the school and parents. Essentially we aim to put on a range of events throughout the year that will appeal to many across all year groups. This ensures that parents are able to meet others within their daughter’s year but also across the whole school, thus promoting a sense of community.
In addition to the social side, the PTA is also able to raise funds from these events that can then be used to buy items that provide real benefits for the girls. We focus on those items that fall outside the scope of the school fees but which provide real value to as many girls as possible. Recent projects, for example, have been a PA system, new curtains in the School Dining Hall, the digital signage boards and Chapel pew cushions.
Finally the PTA also benefits from the Second Hand Uniform shop that provides an invaluable service to many and generates considerable funds for the PTA. More details can be found in our School Uniform section.
The Committee
Every parent and teacher is invited to be a member of the PTA and a voluntary annual subscription is collected along with the school fees each year. The committee is composed of around 20 parents and teachers across the school, voted in each year at the AGM. Being on the committee really is a fun and rewarding way to meet other parents and be more actively involved in school life. Please click here to see the full list of committee members.
How to Join
We are always looking for new committee members so if you would like to know more about what’s involved or simply offer your help at one of the events we would be delighted to hear from you.

Fundraising Update
In the financial year 2011, the Senior PTA was able to donate just under £17,000 towards music and drama equipment for the Anniversary Halls. This is a fantastic achievement and we are delighted to have been able to secure this kit so soon after the opening of the Halls. We are very grateful to all parents for their continued support of our events allowing us to make such donations to the school. In addition, to mark the 125th Anniversary of St Catherine's, the PTA donated a bench to the school. This is positioned outside the Anniversary Halls and we hope all will, at some point, sit upon it and admire the view.
