P. J. Martin, Esq. BA FRGS FCCA (Peter)
Chairman of the Governing Body & a member of the Academic & Development Committees and the governor on the ICT Development Committee Peter Martin joined the Governing Body in 2003 and was elected Chairman in 2007. He is married to Rachel and has 3 now grown up children - his youngest daughter Jo is an Old Girl of St Catherine's. Peter is a graduate of Durham University and a qualified accountant. After 2 years as a VSO in Khartoum, Sudan, he spent over 30 years in the international IT industry holding senior management positions in London, New York and Paris. Since ‘retirement’ he has pursued a career in local politics. He is an elected Member of Surrey County, Waverley Borough and Godalming Town Councils. He is a member of the Surrey County Cabinet with the Schools and Learning portfolio and has also served as the Mayor of Godalming. Recreation: Active in local and national politics, the Church and many musical organisations |

C. M. R. Campbell, Esq. MA (Oxon) (Murray)
Member of Finance Committee. Murray Campbell joined the Governing Body in 1983. He is married to Ann with two sons and one daughter. Solicitor. Retired Partner in Barlows in Godalming. Governor of Gosden House School. Churchwarden at Holy Trinity, Bramley. Vice Chairman of the London Bach Society. Vice-Chairman of the Bramley Village Society. Cider maker. Dr F. R. Green BSc PhD (Fiona)
Member of the Academic Committee. Fiona Green joined the Governing Body in October 2006. Fiancé: Professor Tony Brown. BSc in Biochemistry, PHD in Human Genetics at the Galton Laboratory UCL. Dr Green worked as a Post Doc at Charing Cross and as a Lecturer at UCL and the University of Oxford. Currently Dr Green is a Reader in Functional Genomics in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Surrey and Director of the Faculty Graduate School with responsibility for over 200 postgraduate research students. Researches on the genetics of cardiovascular disease and selenium-containing proteins, and has published extensively in this field. Recreation: Travel and food |

Mrs M. S. Greenway (Miranda)
Member of the Preparatory School and Academic Committees. Miranda Greenway joined the Governing Body in September 2006 and is an Old girl of St Catherine’s School, as was her elder sister, Wendy. She read Law at Bristol University and became a member of Gray’s Inn with the intention of becoming a barrister. Instead of this she married Simon and then qualified as a teacher working in maintained schools in England and International and British Schools abroad. Miranda became Head of St. Ives Preparatory School in Haslemere in 1992 and retired in 2001. She was an ISI Schools Inspector from 1995 - 2006 and has been a Member of the School Council (Governor) of St Swithun’s School Winchester since 2002. Recreation: Family - in particular her son and daughter and her 4 grandchildren. Gardening, travel, sailing, skiing, riding, walking, and reading. |

Dr J. E. Johnson (Janet) BA Hons (MA Oxon); DPhil. (Mod Hist) PGCE
Chairman of Academic Committee & Member of Estate and Buildings’ Committee.
Janet Johnson joined the Governing Body on 30th November 2002. She is married to Peter and they have 2 sons and 1 daughter. She has an MA and DPhil in Modern History from Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, and has taught history in both the state and independent sectors. Janet’s most time-consuming interest at the moment is historical research and she is working on a voluntary basis in the Bodleian Library, Oxford, box-listing an extensive archive from a house in her village which has recently been sold. She is also co-authoring a history of Lady Margaret Hall with the current Principal, which is an exciting project still in its early stages. Recreation: Sailing, walking, reading and music/opera; also family, with recently born grandchildren. |

Mrs C. S. Johnstone [Dr C. S. Higgens MD, FRCP] (Clare)
Member of Academic and Pastoral Committee. Clare Johnstone (known as Dr Higgens professionally) joined the Governing Body in May 2008. Clare is married to Laurence, a Chartered Surveyor who works as a director of Jones Lang LaSalle in London’s West End. Clare is a senior consultant Physician at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow. She has a major interest in Medical Education, with both local and national responsibilities for postgraduate education of junior doctors. Clare and Laurence have two children. Lucy aged 21, who was a boarder at St Catherine’s from age 11 - 18. She is now at Exeter University reading Psychology. James is 19 and an undergraduate at Nottingham reading philosophy. Recreation: Includes skiing, theatre, musicals, and good detective novels. |

T. W. Kendall, Esq. FRICS (Tim) Chairman of the Estate and Buildings' Committee and Member of the Development Committee Tim Kendall joined the Governing Body in September 2006. Tim is married to Sandra and they have two children. Sarah is a teacher, and Stewart, an architect. He spent his career as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and has considerable school experience. He has acted for St Catherine's since 1978 and therefore knows the School extremely well. Tim retired as Senior Partner to become a Consultant to CM Parker Browne (now Synergy) in 2003 and continued to act for the School until he joined the Governing Body. Recreation: Tim is a member and past president of Godalming Woolsack Rotary Club. He enjoys playing squash, including with the St Catherine’s girls |

Dr J. F. McGowan MBBS FRCA Consultant Anaesthetist (Janet)
Vice-Chairman of the Governing Body and Chairman of Pastoral Committee.Janet McGowan (formerly Craig) joined the Governing Body in 1995. A Consultant Anaesthetist at Eastbourne Hospital since 1988, she is also an Old Girl of St Catherine's, as were her mother (Dr Barbara Brown) and her grandmother. Janet left St Catherine’s in 1970 (at the same time as Miss Stoner) and went to Westminster Medical School and qualified in 1975. She has enjoyed a career in Anaesthesia and Pain Management and plans to continue working for a few more years! One son is already in medicine and another is just starting the training following in her footsteps! Recreation: Janet continues to enjoy singing in her spare time. |

A. M. Ommanney, Esq. (Mark)
Chairman of Development Committee and Member of the Estate & Buildings’ Committee.
Mark Ommanney joined the Governing Body in July 2006. He is married to Rosalind and they recently built their own house. Mark and Rosalind have 2 children - a son (Alex, 26) and a daughter (Cat, 22) who was at St Catherine’s until 18. In January 2003, Mark was appointed as Director General Life Insurance Association. July 2004, LIA merged with SOFA (Society of Financial Advisors). Was a founder of IBNet in 1999, an internet surveillance, monitoring and analysis firm, which went public in 2000. Recreation: Classic American Cars, Motor Racing, Skiing, Tennis, Golf, Cycling. |

Mrs S. E. Shipway (Sue)
Member of Academic, Estate Buildings’ and Pastoral Committees and the governor on Health & Safety Committee.
Susan Shipway joined the Governing Body in December 2004. Sue is married to Ralph and is a former parent of the School. They have five children, two sons and three daughters, Nicola, Emma and Julia, and all three are former pupils of St Catherine’s. During their time in the School Sue was Secretary of the PTA. Sue is an active supporter of local charities and organises the Meals on Wheels service in Petworth, Wisborough Green and the surrounding areas. Recreation: Family, gardening, bridge, reading |

Mrs G. J. Stuart B.Sc Hons (Gloria)
Member of the Finance Committee.Gloria Stuart joined the Governing Body in April 2008. Former Group Legal Director, Company Secretary and Member of the Executive Management Board of The BOC Group plc. Studied German and Law at Surrey University and worked as a solicitor in corporate finance at city lawyers, Norton Rose, in London and Hong Kong from 1976 to 1983. Following her retirement from BOC she accompanied her husband, Anthony, on an overseas posting to Australia from 2002 to 2005. On her return became a Lay Member of the Governing Body of Royal Holloway, University of London and is now Chair of their Human Resources and Equal Opportunities Committee. Gloria's daughter is a former pupil of St Catherine's and is now training as a lawyer. Recreations: include travel, golf, reading, food and wine. |

J. C. M. Tippett, Esq. BSc FCA TEP (Jonathan)
Chairman of the Finance Committee. Jonathan Tippett joined the Governing Body in 2002. Jonathan is married to Elizabeth and they have two children. Founded Morley Tippett Chartered Accountants in April 2002 based at Loseley Park, Guildford. Recreations: Rugby, Cricket, Jaguar Cars, Farmers' Club. |

B. M. Way, Esq. Dip Arch RIBA (Mark)
Member of the Development and Estate & Buildings’ Committees.Mark Way joined the Governing Body in September 2003. Mark is married to Pat and has two grown up children. He has been a Qualified Architect for over thirty years in professional consultancy in the UK, the Middle East and Asia. Formerly Group Chairman and Head of Group Research with a large international multi-discipline practice. Director of Skills at the Construction Skills Council. Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects' Visiting Board responsible for validation of Schools of Architecture. Mark lives locally. Recreation: Sustainability and the environment; gardening and landscape design; world music and cinema; club motor racing. |
