The Classics Department aims to promote the study and enjoyment of the Greek and Roman Worlds-their language, literature, history and culture. We offer Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation, subjects which are potentially stimulating in their own right, but which also help students to appreciate the debt that European languages and culture owe to the Ancient World. Furthermore, our subjects teach students a wide variety of skills that are prized by both universities and employers. We hope that students at St Catherine's will find the study of the Ancient World and its languages enjoyable, challenging and useful.
