Sports News 15th July
|
At the end of this academic year we would like to thank our Prep School parents for all their help and support throughout the year. Our girls should be proud of all they have achieved and we wish our LIII girls happiness and success in their senior schools. We look forward to hearing how they are getting on in all their sporting endeavours.
ATHLETICS
On Monday 5th July we travelled to Birmingham with four of our Prep School girls to compete in the National Prep Schools Athletics finals. The girls were a pleasure to take and participated with a calm and mature approach, taking the big occasion in their stride. Georgie jumped 4.02 metres in the long jump and finished in 5th place competing against girls from all over the country. Annabel finished in 9th place in the high jump and 11th place in the 800m. The relay team achieved a PB and narrowly missed achieving a place in the final. Georgie and Annabel achieved personal best performances in the long jump and 800m respectively. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Silvester for all her help and support with athletics this term.

On Wednesday 30th June we had a joint Prep School and Senior School rounders fixture with Ashdowne House School. The opposition travelled from Kent and a very competitive and exciting set of matches took place.
On Tuesday 6th July we played U9 A,B,C&D rounders against Guildford High School. Almost all the girls in LII participated and the girls from both schools played to a high standard demonstrating the progress they had made since the beginning of term. Scores in all four matches were very close with us winning two games and loosing two.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
On Friday 9th July the girls in Form I participated in an afternoon of Problem solving. They tackled a variety of challenges that had been set within the school grounds. To solve problems they had to work as part of a team and use alternative ways of thinking to come up with solutions to problems. The girls enjoyed the activities and were very competent at working with others and solved the problems effectively.
On Wednesday the girls in LIII participated in a water sports activity at Horseshoe Lake near Sandhurst. The girls took part in a different water based activities including raft building, wind surf boards, kayaks and dinghy sailing. A challenging and fun day was experienced by all.
