Wey and Arun canal trip
Last Wednesday we went on a canal trip. We went on the Wey and Arun Canal. We went on a minibus and some people went in cars.
Next we got on the barge and we set off. We had to go through the lock. It was 2 feet down. The man had to wind the lock hand to open the gate and let the water through to the same level. We went through.
Next we went under the bridge. We went through the duck weed which was a greeny colour. Then we went through a second lock, and it was 8 feet down. Then we stopped and got off the barge to look at the aqueduct. Going under the aqueduct was the River Lox. We learnt a bit about wildlife and flowers. Then we went back on the barge and went through the 2 locks, the duck weed and the bridge. Then we got on the minibus and the cars and drove back to school.
Our favourite bit of the day was standing over the aqueduct.
