Winchester Latin Symposium
|
|
On Sunday 7th of February, a group of girls from the Upper Fifth and Sixth Form went to Winchester for a Latin Symposium. We travelled to Winchester by train, and only got a little bit lost while walking to the college. We were split into two groups for the translations of extracts of Livy’s histories; specifically the pieces about “Tullia” and “Hadrian Crosses the Alps”. After the first translation and a break for lunch Dr Anna Clark (a lecturer at Christ Church, Oxford) gave a talk about Livy as a historian. Then it was on to the second translation session. It was a really enjoyable and informative day, and a lot of fun.
