Edexcel IGCSE All Examination
Two papers of two hours each
The Mathematics Department are changing to the IGCSE examination administered by EDEXCEL. The Higher Tier will cover the range of grades A*- D and all of the year group will enter at this level.
The course includes numbers and algebra; shape, space and measures; handling data. It is designed to develop mathematical knowledge, as well as oral and written communication and practical skills. The application of Mathematics to everyday situations and problem solving is emphasised. Candidates are expected to recognise patterns and to generalise using appropriate words or symbols. There is an emphasis on the rigour of algebra and proof which will be an excellent preparation for girls who will be pursuing any science subject in the sixth form.
Assessment at the end of the course will be by means of two written papers which each contribute 50% to the final mark
