Why Study Food Technology?

To develop a better understanding of the nutritional components of the food we eat and the functions of these nutrients in a world which is becoming increasingly dominated by a diet which is causing many diet related illnesses through lack of knowledge.
To understand the various processes involved in producing food from the raw ingredient to the finished product.

It will also give an understanding of the influences and processes involved in product design from a historical perspective to current practice.

Course Content
|
AS: A study of Industrial and Commercial Food Products and Practices together with aspects of Food Science. There is also a piece of coursework focusing on New Product Development which involves a variety of practical skills.
A2: A more in-depth study of the Science of Food and the influence of new technologies and materials on the development of food products.
Coursework which links a New Product with a real client, ( food premises proprietor ) who accepts your product to test on their customers. This is followed with feedback which is used to evaluate your product.
