We had a coffee morning at break time on 26th October which was run by the 4th form. They brought in home-made cakes and sweets and we sold hot chocolate too. We managed to raise over £80 during just 20 minutes for Macmillan Cancer Relief. We also put the money we raised at our house communion service towards Macmillan Cancer Relief.

We have recently sent £1000 to St Catherine's Hospice, who were grateful for the contribution and £1000 to St Catherine's School in Nairobi. This large sum of money was the result of various fund-raising activities last year, including the Russell Baker whole school event: Spy Ring.

In the summer we raised £200 for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) from our annual raffle at Open Day when we offer a hamper full of food and wine. This year's winners were the Farrell family.
Russell Baker's Spy Ring
Spy Ring, which is one of Russell Baker's main fundraising events, was played for the second time in March this year. About 350 students and staff took part in the game in which they tried to eliminate all the other spies to become Master Spy. Last year, there were some very entertaining moments as usual. The event proves very popular and raises a large amount of money for our House Charities, St Catherine's School, Nairobi and the Women's Refuge in Guildford, every year. We look forward to playing it again this year.
St. Catherine's School, Nairobi
Russell-Baker began supporting this school in Nairobi as a result of Miss Vinen’s previous work in Kenya. Miss Vinen set up the link, and subsequently letters between pupils in both schools have been exchanged at regular intervals, allowing different cultures to be brought together. Fund raising here has enabled the school in Nairobi to purchase essential basic equipment which we take for granted. We have been fortunate up until recently to have been able to send money with parents of our own pupils who have been working in or visiting Kenya. This has meant we have not had to pay bank charges for transfers, and every penny has been put to good use. We have decided to continue supporting St. Catherine’s School, Nairobi under Mrs Hall.
