Welcome

Whether you're visiting our website as a prospective or current parent or pupil, alumna, or friend of the School, we’re delighted to open the door to a community that champions girls and young women in all their individuality and ambition.

At St Catherine’s, we believe the school experience should do more than prepare girls for success, it should prepare them for life. From ages 3 to 18, our 800 pupils are invited to explore, question, create, and grow. Through excellent teaching, thoughtful care, and expansive opportunities across academics, sport, music, and drama, we help girls build the confidence to live fully and lead boldly.

Our 23-acre campus, nestled in the beauty of the Surrey Hills, is more than a place of learning, it’s a home from home. Whether day girl or boarder (boarding begins at age 11), each student is enveloped in support and encouragement, through tailored pastoral care and a vibrant House system that fosters belonging across year groups.

We take pride in our heritage, including our founding family links with Her Majesty The Queen, our Patron, and remain future-facing in everything we do. From embracing innovative educational approaches to normalising challenge and emotional resilience, we empower girls to step forward as advocates for themselves and others. Our motto, Let us go on, remains our compass, encouraging risk-taking, curiosity, kindness, and courage.

Academic success matters here, but not at the cost of joy. We know that girls thrive when they feel safe, seen, and excited by their learning. That’s why we offer a broad education where self-expression is encouraged and individual strengths celebrated. We nurture resourcefulness, grit, and balance and teach our students to care deeply about the world around them.

Our alumnae continue to shine long after they leave us, and they return to share their wisdom, offer mentorship, and build lasting networks for the next generation of St Catherine’s girls. The relationships formed here are enduring, heartfelt, and lifelong.

Wellbeing isn’t a bolt-on; it’s embroidered into our daily life. Our whole-school ethos recognises that being well comes before doing well. We partner closely with parents, embrace adolescence with empathy (and a sense of humour!), and encourage open dialogue through our student-voice initiatives and leadership programmes. Our commitment is to walk alongside each girl as she becomes the author of her own story, with confidence, resilience, and joy.

And if there isn’t an opportunity she’s looking for yet, we’ll help her build it. This is a place to be curious, to be kind, to live fully, laugh often and love learning - together.

Visitors to the school have been kind enough to confirm what we claim and we are proud to quote some of them:

A place where heavyweight academic expectations truly are balanced with robust pastoral care, at the heart of which is a strong house system through which girls quickly bond.

Are they happy? Brimming over with happiness, I should say. The House system, with a myriad of inter-House competitions, is great fun, they enthuse. You're all part of a big community.
