St Catherine’s Association Travel Award Applications 2023

Applications will be reviewed and considered at the PTA and Association Committee meetings. Decisions will be communicated to applicants by 16th June 2023 and BACS transfer will be issued once your trip has been booked.
All applications must be received electronically by 5th May 2023 along with any supporting files e.g. photos, maps, illustrations. The Application form (see below) can be downloaded.
Successful applicants will be required to submit a report for the School website and Magazine by 1st September after the date of their return and make a presentation on St Catherine's Day (November).

- Association Travel Bursary: up to £600
Rosamond Raymond Travel Bursary: up to £500
Relevant to expeditions undertaken Post AS or Post A-Level (L6 and U6 girls)
- The Association Committee administers a bursary of £500 a year which can be awarded to one girl or shared amongst deserving applicants. This award is generously funded by a former pupil of St Catherine’s, Mrs Rosamond Raymond (1946 Leaver). Mrs Raymond has a particular interest in conservation and the environment and applications in these fields are very welcome; however application will be accepted and considered for all projects or expeditions overseas.
- The Association Committee must be satisfied that the project or expedition is worthwhile and that the applicant is able to raise the balance of the money required.
- Applicants should submit an application form setting out their plans and giving reasons why the Association Committee might award a Rosamond Raymond Travel Bursary towards their costs.
PTA Student Project Award(s)
Relevant to expeditions undertaken Post A-Level (U6 girls)
- The PTA currently offers a number of financial awards to girls who wish to undertake worthwhile projects post A-Level. These awards are made available to any project irrespective of geographical location and can be undertaken during the summer holidays immediately following A-Levels or as part of a gap year programme. Any girl in her final year is eligible to apply.
- Financial support may be sought for a wide range of projects including participation in charity work in the UK, targeted work experience to support further education and working on a project in a developing country. The PTA must be satisfied that the project will benefit the community to which it relates.
- Applicants should submit an application form detailing their project, and giving reasons why the PTA might contribute towards their costs, what those costs are and how much you would like the PTA to fund. You should also include details of how you propose to raise the balance of the money required.
Association Travel Bursary: up to £600
Relevant to expeditions undertaken Post A-Level (U6 girls)
- The Association Committee administers and funds a bursary of £600 a year which can be awarded to one girl or shared amongst deserving applicants.
- The Association Committee must be satisfied that the project or expedition is worthwhile and that the applicant is able to raise the balance of the money required. The Expedition can last between 2 and 12 months during the summer holidays after A-Levels or during a gap year.
- Any overseas project that benefits the local community in the destination country will be considered. It is essential that you have parental permission and the funds must be returned if the trip is cancelled for any reason.
- Applicants should submit an application form setting out their plans and giving reasons why the Association Committee might award a Travel Bursary towards their costs.

Do join our ‘private’ group which is open to all members of the Association – that includes current and former parents and staff, friends of St Catherine’s, as well as current senior 6th form pupils.
We’ll be sharing articles and comment on professional working life, leadership and career development.
The more who join us, the more opportunities there are for alumnae and parents to connect, support each other and perhaps help current St Catherine’s girls in planning their future careers. You can help shape the group too with your views and opinions.

We have a St Catherine’s Private Alumnae Group on Facebook and would like to invite you to join.
Please spread the word and encourage your fellow classmates to join as well. The more the merrier! As the group is private, initial approval will be requested for joining and posting.
