Support Design Engineering
St Catherine's first Design Engineering programme for Sixth Form girls has been a huge success. The first car off the 'production line' is a bright yellow Westfield Final Edition which has not only provided a truly immersive learning opportunity for our Sixth Form girls but has also inspired girls from the ages of 4 to 18 to believe that they too might be engineers of the future!
We are indebted to all the St Catherine's families who supported our ambitions for this project and made it possible. As girls worked to complete the build, we launched The CAT's Car Club, inviting donors to become Founder Members and to help to make it possible for us to buy a second car and run the programme for a further year. Our thanks to all the members of The CAT's Car Club for the 23-24 season, who enjoyed a track morning at the historic Goodwood circuit in celebration of all that the girls have achieved with this build.
We are committed to making the Design Engineering build a regular feature of the St Catherine's calendar. In order to resource the kit car project for a further year, in addition to the amount raised by the generous charitable support of the School community, we need to sell the car.
All final tweaks and checks are being made in readiness for IVA certification and registration and the car, built entirely by our Sixth Form girls over the past year under the guidance of Mr White and the Design Engineering team, will soon be available to buy, should you be a sportscar enthusiast!
