Head's Welcome
Welcome to the Senior School at St Catherine’s, where girls are encouraged to grow into confident, compassionate and capable young adults, ready to make their mark on the world.
What does that look like in practice?
It means girls feel seen and valued for who they are. It means teaching that’s rigorous and ambitious, but also personal and filled with joy. It means a culture in which the girls are encouraged to embrace opportunities and strive for full, vibrant and fulfilling lives.
Here, academic excellence goes hand-in-hand with breadth and balance. Our pupils consistently perform at the highest levels (we’re routinely ranked among the top boarding schools by A Level results), but they do so while deeply engaged in a full and rounded school experience. Whether leading a play, training for county athletics, studying astrophysics, or launching a sustainability campaign, our students are encouraged to take risks, speak up and stretch themselves.
Boarding plays a vital role in life here, not just for those who board, but for the whole community. With Boarding starting in Upper 3 (Year 7), our flexible model means every girl benefits from the additional support, wraparound care, and diverse friendships that our boarding culture brings.
Outstanding teaching and pastoral care lie at the heart of our practice. Our House system is the heartbeat of the school, creating close-knit support networks across year groups. Every girl belongs, every voice matters. And our staff, both teaching and non-teaching, are deeply committed to the development and wellbeing of each individual student.
