Head's Welcome

As a girls' school St Catherine's ensures that its students develop in an environment which suggests to them in everything they see around them that there is nothing that a woman cannot achieve. I believe that St Catherine's girls are well placed to pursue their higher education when they leave school at eighteen as sensible, caring and competent young women who will have much to offer in life. Academic results are important - the school is comfortably placed in the infamous league tables - but we believe that there is much more to an all-round education for the young women of the 21st century.

Mrs Alice Phillips

As a school that is proud to offer boarding to our students, we are routinely in the top 10 boarding schools for girls by A Level outcomes. Please see our boarding pages here for further information on boarding at St Catherine's, and to get a flavour of the exciting opportunities that our boarders have.

The breadth of opportunity given to our girls and the special atmosphere of support and encouragement provided by a highly qualified and dedicated body of staff in all departments, creates the particular atmosphere of support and encouragement which are hallmarks of the School.

The philosophy that happiness at school is the key to success and enjoyment for each individual underpins everything we do. The balance achieved between achievement and personal development is the result and we were very proud of the findings of the inspectors from the Independent Schools Inspectorate in October 2016 who deemed the School to be excellent in all areas.

Perhaps the concluding remark sums up best of all what a St. Catherine’s education is all about:

By the time they leave school, they are able to think critically, have high aspirations and a self-belief that there are few things that they cannot achieve.
