School Houses

Mrs Kirsty Meredith
Senior Housemistress

The School House system is the heartbeat of St Catherine's. Every student, day girl or boarder, is allocated to one of the six houses: Ashcombe, Merriman, Midleton, Musgrave, Russell Baker or Stoner. Each House is made up of around 100 girls from U3 to U6: a vertical mix which is wonderfully enriching, giving each girl the opportunity to make her own valued contribution in a variety of areas: music, sport, art, drama.

Within each house, girls look out for each other and as they rise up through the years, they aspire to lead while those at the top look after and look out for their younger ‘sisters’, working as inspirations and role models to them and in turn, they aspire to take their place as leaders one day.

School Housemistresses

The dedicated House staff members in each house are on hand -  Housemistress, U4 Tutor, U3/L4 Tutor and Assistant Tutor - but it is the girls themselves who run the show. This culminates in the Inter-House competitions at the end of each term – House Drama, Gym/Dance and Singing - with prizes to be won and personal goals to be reached.  Along the way, there are a myriad other activities and competitions in house lunchtime:  the annual House Informal Concert,  House Quiz, the many different sports competitions etc.

This is a team effort with the younger girls combining under sixth form leadership to pull together the potential of the House. Whatever your talent, your House needs you!

House competitions include:
Netball Athletics Debating
Lacrosse Swimming Drama
Rounders Gym Singing
Public Speaking Tennis Art
