From the Head of Sixth Form

Life in the Sixth Form is a unique and memorable experience. It is both the culmination of your school career and preparation for the next stage of your life as an independent, confident adult. Our wish is for you to leave St Catherine’s not only with the best possible A level results but with a sense of achievement, purpose and self worth and a secure knowledge of your strengths and abilities.

The next two short but important years at St Catherine’s will provide you with so many opportunities to explore your interests, to study independently and to develop your skills. You will strengthen existing friendships, make new ones and come to important decisions about your future, leaving us as capable and mature young adults who have the ability to rise to the challenges of life and to make a positive contribution to the wider society.

The Sixth Form is very much a transition from school to higher education. You will have your very own Sixth Form Library, Common Room and Boarding House.  You will have more freedom: to manage your own time, to wear your own clothes (with suits saved for our more formal occasions), to make a genuine and significant contribution to the running of the School and your House and to be role models for the younger girls. You will begin to plan in earnest for your future and make exciting decisions about the next stage of your education and be supported throughout the whole process.

From the induction camping trip at the beginning of the Lower Sixth, the musical, the House activities, the whole range of new activities available to the final fancy dress picnic, the Sixth Form is characterised by energy, hard work, enthusiasm, laughter and fun.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to our Sixth Form where you will find an inclusive and supportive atmosphere and an enthusiastic ‘can do’ ethos.
